The Extremely Sad Life of Old People, Around The Globe Today : But Who Is To blame???

The Extremely Sad Life of Old People, Around The Globe Today : But Who Is To blame???

I think bitterness comes, only because of the attitudes of people.

Will we have problems in life, if our attitude is positive? Never, ever. Besides, 'Expectations' always bring 'Disappointments' in life.

"कर्मण्ये वा धिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन" Didn't Lord Krishna instruct the whole mankind in भगवद्गीता, with these words of wisdom, through His disciple Arjuna, in the great Mahabharatha war ?

The Greatest Sages have taught us the simplest way to be the happiest, & it's this way :

'Whatever you do, do with your heart & soul, without expecting anything in return' is their most open secret & simplest formula for an all blissful life. This applies equally to both parents & children.

Besides, in ancient India, they never asked anyone to hang on to family life, like glue, till the fag end of life. Even animal kingdom doesn't do it. We are after all humans, and a more superior species, created by God.

After the children are settled in life, and have a source of income & a family of their own, parents have been instructed in Hinduism, to move to Vanaprasthaasrama, spending their lives in Japa, prayers, meditation, scriptural reading, introspection, contemplation etc, away from the mundane family life.

If parents these days are in mental agony, that their children, don't even bother to call them, at least over phone, once in a while, I honestly feel, it's the immaturity & utter worldiness of the parents, who have nothing better to do, in the god given life, other than freaking out in Grihasthaasram, till the final call comes.

It looks so worthless & funny to see old people waiting anxiously, to attend the marriages of their grand children & great grand children, before the final call comes.

How can people live such meaningless life, wasting the precious human birth, it's very surprising.

Why can't parents get themselves permanenly away from the mundane world, and spend their gifted life in spiritual sadhana, at least in the last part of their lives, instead of crying immaturely, to get the joys of Grihasthaasramam, even in the fag end of life?

I am not any enlightened sage. But honestly to me, all these tantrums of aged parents look, utterly unwise. I feel, they should set an example to their children, leading a life of contemplation in old age, instead of being a baggage, and cribber.

Positive attitude is bound to keep us in a perfect state of mental & physical health, without a shade of doubt, as Gurudev Swami Sivanada Saraswathi often used to advice.

If this is the way of life of the elderly people in the world, the whole society, I am dead sure, will take care of their basic needs, including food & healthcare. And this is how, our society in ancient India was efficiently running, with total peace & harmony, without discord & chaos.

Dear elderly parents from around the globe !!! Let children live their lives, and you live your lives, contemplating on the purpose of this human birth, and ultimately merging with the divine, that is the very Ultimate Goal of life, in this Universe. Dinner parties, Celebrations & boozing, are not your cups of tea, not anymore. At least once, have a glance at Shree Adi Shankara's Bhaja Govindam.

Unfortunately I was unable to discover the name of the artist, the Great World-Wide-Web ( WWW ) being full of Copy-Cats of all kinds, like me. Didn't want to put the wrong name of the artist either. That would have been total injustice to the real artist. But I MUST, MUST admit before the Whole-Wide-World ( WWW ), that the 'Image' was indeed a great inspiration for me, to begin this Blogpost:) :)
