Sacred Tiruvannamalai, where my dearest Father spent his memorable school days

Sacred Tiruvannamalai, where my dearest Father spent his memorable school days :

A brief Write-up on Tiruvannamalai, below the following pictures of the holy shrine. This was originally my Facebook post, posted perhaps sometime last year.

The sacred Tiruvannamalai is just 5 hours drive from my residence in Bangalore. Who hasn't heard of Shri Arunachaleshwarar Temple in Tiruvannamalai & the adjacent Ramanashramam of the Immortal Silent Soul Shri Ramana Maharshi.

Maharshi Ramana was a contemporary of my beloved paternal grandmother Mambakkam Patti.
Appa was in Tiruvannamalai during his financially struggling yet joyous school days, studying in a local school before & during his Boards.

Our TamilNadu was non existent then. It was Madras Presidency then, if I am not wrong. And Patti was a frequent Visitor to Shri Ramanashramam, always after the harvest in Mambakkam whenever she had some free time for her spiritual pursuits.

I fondly remember Patti & her descriptive narratives about her pilgrimages around South India & some parts of North, including Arunachaleshwarar Temple, Ramanashramam, Shri Shailam, Rameshwaram, Kumbakonam Mahamaham, Kashi & so forth.

I asked Patti once as to what was her Raashi ( Moon Sign in Hindu Astrology ). She said it was Dhanurraashi. Patti was very proud of her Raashi Sign in her horoscope. She was very proud of the fact that Dhanurraashi candidates were very fortunate to have the opportunity of visiting all Holy places in their lifetime. And this was very much a fact as we had observed in her own adventurous life of 85 years. She had a long diseasefree life with robust health : A perfect instrument for undertaking tough pilgrimages in any terrain.

I shifted to Bangalore along with my budding entrepreneur son Rohan in October 2010, leaving my husband Shekhar all alone in Delhi, when he was busy with his career working for some of the Corporate Hospitals in Delhi.

A year or two before my arrival in the garden city, Appa went on a pilgrimage to Tiruvannamalai along with Amma, where he contentedly stayed in Ramanashramam for 4-5 days, thoroughly enjoying all the spiritual activities of the Ashram. This was his visit to Holy Tiruvannamalai after several decades of his school leaving boards.

Appa's trip to Tiruvannamalai was a very pleasant trip, & he promised to take me & Shekhar too to   Arunachaleshwarar Temple & Ramanashramam sometime in the near future.

The promise just remained a promise, which could never be fulfilled. Now Appa is no more with us to accompany us to the Holy town. Am just looking at the Google Images right now dreaming of the most awaited pilgrimage, sometime in the future whenever life permits.

Appa, I'll always keep the promise in mind that you had made to me once with a loving heart, when you were in a fairly healthy state of mind & body ;  at least your mind thought you were perfectly hale & hearty, if not any of us. 🤣🤣
